Whimsical Saturday- Looking Up

14 12 2013

The pursuit of whimsy, the light-hearted, yet serious, adventure.

Love sometimes means looking up…

Looking Up

to find your way in this world.

“Set your mind of the things above, not on the things that are on the earth,
for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God”
Colossians 3:2-3

Two Announcements…

God’s House Maui
This Sunday, our church is having its first service at Pu’ukukui Elementary in Wailuku (see directions below).  Brothers Steven and Kris Miyake, Maui born and raised, returned the island to start this church after several years on the mainland doing ministry. This church and its leadership share a similar heart and vision for ministry on the Hawaiian Islands with our ministry, Pray Hawaii, and because of those connections, we recently joined the pastoral leadership team as Life Transformation pastors.  We are excited for this new opportunity and ask for your prayers as we begin to serve in this new role.
Please read below for more information about God’s House.

The heart of this church is to see the island transformed by the love of Christ.  The cornerstone principle for God’s House comes from Matthew 6:33.  “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”  The vision is drawn from John 12:32, “When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to Myself.” The vision for God’s House Maui is “to lift Christ high above the islands of Hawaii to draw all people to Him.”  The mission comes from the great commission found in Matthew 28.  “To disciple people into an authentic relationship with Christ by teaching them how to love God genuinely, to love each other unconditionally, and to live obediently by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Prayer Requests
Will you join us in praying for our Church begin services at this new location. Please pray for the Lord to bring the people He wants to this fellowship.  Please pray for the pastors and staff of this church as they seek to follow the Lord faithfully.  Pray also for a release of resources to help this church meet its new obligations.  Finally, pray for protection for Pastors Kris and Stacey Miyake, Worship Pastors, Arthur and Amanda Criste, and all other pastors and staff at God’s House Maui

Finally, if you are on Maui and would like to attend services, the first service is Sunday November 10 from 10-12.  Here are some directions to help.

Whimsical Saturday- Volunteering

19 10 2013

The pursuit of whimsy, the light-hearted, yet serious, adventure.

Love means volunteering to…

Giggle Maintenance Party

serve even the least of these!

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ ”
Matthew 25:45

“Did not our hearts burn within us…”

20 09 2013

As I walked to another day of subbing yesterday morning, I captured this picture of the sun illuminating this flame looking cloud with a bit of a pink tone.

And they said one to another, Did not our hearts burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Luke 24:32

Which reminded me of the Will Reagan song, “Set a fire,” so please enjoy this as a Friday Morning Refresher.

Day 30 Journal (and a thank you)

21 05 2013

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the beauty of the Hawaiian culture.  I ask you to bring unity between the communities of the Hawaiian Islands.  For the people from the remotest parts of the islands to have and feel a deep connection with those for the more populated areas.  Thank you for the love that the people have for each other and the strong community bonds, and please grow those bonds deeper.

In Your Name, AMEN!

Author’s Note: If you followed me (or checked in sometimes) on this 30 Day Journey through the prayer, thank you.  Thank you for joining your prayers with mine for the people and lands of Hawaii. You have my deepest gratitude

Day 29 Journal

20 05 2013

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the faithful pastors who serve the churches and communities of Hawaii.  I pray for supernatural provision for them, so their families’ needs may be met.  Also please protect them from physical and spiritual attacks.  I thank You for the joy of knowing You and that these faithful men and women may serve You out of an overflow from their relationship with you.

In Your Name, AMEN!

Day 28 Journal

19 05 2013

Dear Jesus,

I thank you for faithful men and women who serve You here in Hawaii, and I ask you to give them encouragement today! Jesus, I also ask for those who are proclaiming a partial gospel to be convicted by Holy Spirit. Let their message be changed by a vibrant encounter with You. For the enemy behind their lies, I ask you to bind him and remove the cloud created by his lies. Jesus let the fullness of Your gospel be proclaimed!

In Your Name, AMEN!
