The pursuit of whimsy, the light-hearted, yet serious, adventure.

Love sometimes means staying on the path…

God’s House Maui
This Sunday, our church is having its first service at Pu’ukukui Elementary in Wailuku (see directions below).  Brothers Steven and Kris Miyake, Maui born and raised, returned the island to start this church after several years on the mainland doing ministry. This church and its leadership share a similar heart and vision for ministry on the Hawaiian Islands with our ministry, Pray Hawaii, and because of those connections, we recently joined the pastoral leadership team as Life Transformation pastors.  We are excited for this new opportunity and ask for your prayers as we begin to serve in this new role.
Please read below for more information about God’s House.

The heart of this church is to see the island transformed by the love of Christ.  The cornerstone principle for God’s House comes from Matthew 6:33.  “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”  The vision is drawn from John 12:32, “When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to Myself.” The vision for God’s House Maui is “to lift Christ high above the islands of Hawaii to draw all people to Him.”  The mission comes from the great commission found in Matthew 28.  “To disciple people into an authentic relationship with Christ by teaching them how to love God genuinely, to love each other unconditionally, and to live obediently by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Prayer Requests
Will you join us in praying for our Church begin services at this new location. Please pray for the Lord to bring the people He wants to this fellowship.  Please pray for the pastors and staff of this church as they seek to follow the Lord faithfully.  Pray also for a release of resources to help this church meet its new obligations.  Finally, pray for protection for Pastors Kris and Stacey Miyake, Worship Pastors, Arthur and Amanda Criste, and all other pastors and staff at God’s House Maui

Finally, if you are on Maui and would like to attend services, the first service is Sunday November 10 from 10-12.  Here are some directions to help.

Prayer (and action) Requests

18 04 2013

A minor request, if you have a facebook account, please go vote to help feedmysheepmaui get a $25K #SFNeighborhoodAssist grant! http://t.co/vvKcbW0nVk.  Voting is really simple, and you get 10 votes a day for the next three days.  Also please share with your friends on Facebook and Twitter that you voted.

On a more serious note, the town of West, Texas, was rocked by the explosion of fertilizer factory earlier today.  Please be in prayer, and if you can help please do so. A simple thing would be to add this picture to your Facebook profile.  The town is comprised of primarily people of Czech heritage, and we have friend who is 100% Czech whose family has been affected by this tragedy.  Mahalo for your prayers and your help!

A Quote

28 07 2011

If you have read the Ragamuffin Gospel, you are  familiar with this prayer at the end of the chapter titled “Paste Jewelry and Sawdust Hotdogs.”  If you haven’t read it, I would encourage you to read the book.  It is a refreshing and challenging look at the gospel.  Here is the text of prayer below.

Lord Jesus,
We are silly sheep who have dared to stand before You and try to bribe You with our presposterous portfolios.  Suddenly, we have come to our senses.  We are sorry and ask you to forgive us.  Give us the grace to admit we are ragamuffins, to embrace our brokenness, to celebrate Your mercy when we are at our weakest, to rely on Your mercy no matter what we may do.  Dear Jesus, gift us to stop grandstanding and trying to get attention, to do the truth quietly without display, to let the dishonesties in our lives fade away, to accept our limitations, to cling to the gospel of grace, and to delight in Your love. Amen. (Manning, pg 139)

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for exposing my hypocrisy.
