“Did not our hearts burn within us…”

20 09 2013

As I walked to another day of subbing yesterday morning, I captured this picture of the sun illuminating this flame looking cloud with a bit of a pink tone.

And they said one to another, Did not our hearts burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Which reminded me of the Will Reagan song, “Set a fire,” so please enjoy this as a Friday Morning Refresher.

on the way to where you’re going.

There is  a time for everything, and season for every activity under the heavens…a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and time to throw away.

Day 28 Journal

19 05 2013

Dear Jesus,

I thank you for faithful men and women who serve You here in Hawaii, and I ask you to give them encouragement today! Jesus, I also ask for those who are proclaiming a partial gospel to be convicted by Holy Spirit. Let their message be changed by a vibrant encounter with You. For the enemy behind their lies, I ask you to bind him and remove the cloud created by his lies. Jesus let the fullness of Your gospel be proclaimed!

In Your Name, AMEN!

What does double-minded mean?  This thought occured to me after thinking of a passage from the Book of James in the bible.  First let’s look at the text.

James 1:5-8 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.  6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the LORD; 8 he is a double-minded man; unstable in all his ways.”

Now back to the question, what does double-minded mean? According to Strong’s the Greek work dipsuchos, it means either wavering, uncertain, doubting or divided in interest.  The latter definition is particularly interesting to me because the culture that I am in believes in declaring the LORD’s truth over our lives.  Interestingly, when doubt enters our minds, we can agree with it and lose our joy, freedom, or the will to continue.

As we begin to doubt God’s plans, our minds start creating alternatives. Sometimes, these alternatives are ways we can accomplish what we just asked Him to handle.  Other, times they are the lies of the enemy about the goodness of God and His great love for us.  We come with multiple plan b’s just in case Papa’s going to leave us on our own.

The problem with these lies is that they rob us of hearing from Papa God.  Our good Daddy longs for us to believe Him, to take Him at His word, and to leave abandoned to His will.  So then, to this writer, the cure is to be single-minded without divided interests or doubt.  Jesus tells us to seek first His Kingdom and it’s righteousness (meaning rightness of thinking) and all these things (food, clothing, and shelter) will be added to us.

Have you gotten off-track in trusting the LORD? Are doubtful and double-minded?

Are you believing the lie that Papa God doesn’t care for or love you?

If so, don’t worry, repent from those thoughts, seek Him, and wait for Him to narrow your paradigm.
